Our Monthly meetings are usually held on the first Tuesday of the month, in the meeting room behind The Weighbridge pub, Alvechurch, except July & August when we have our Summer Walks.
Some benefits of membership:
Bi-monthly magazine ’58’.
Monthly talks (online) that are both entertaining and enlightening.
Summer walks.
Boat gatherings and social events (currently suspended).
Access to a comprehensive library of waterway related books.
We were formed in 1969 to promote the restoration, conservation and improvement of the canal and adjacent waterways for the use and benefit of the public. In 2010, the society changed its name to the Worcester Birmingham & Droitwich Canals Society following the opening of the Droitwich Canals.
The Society owns a 70ft narrowboat ‘CECILIA’. This 8-berth boat is used to offer holidays to groups of people and other charities that would not normally have the opportunity of experiencing the inland waterways.
Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 7.30pm for a 7.45am start. In July and August we go on guided walks. Non-members are always very welcome.
