All municipalities in Forsyth County are now required to hold Primary Elections due to the enactment of Session Law 2024-14 (HB 1064). The sign up to run in this primary election took place from July 7—July 18, 2025.
During the filing period, Mark Baker filed for the office of Mayor. David Carr, Chris Copeland and current Council member Chris Starling have filed for the two 4-year seats on Village Council. All three candidates who have filed for the Council seats are members of the Republican party, therefore the September 9th Primary is an all-Republican Primary.
Since this is a municipal election year and no other municipalities are sharing precincts with Tobaccoville at the Macedonia Precinct, the Forsyth County Board of Elections has combined the Macedonia precinct with the Alice Watts Tuttle Community Center precinct. The voters from both of these precincts will vote at the Alice Watts Tuttle Community Center. The Northwest Middle School Precinct will be open.
The polls will be open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. This year the office of Mayor and two 4-year Council seats will be filled.
The schedule for the 2025 Municipal Primary is: Tuesday, September 9, 2025
Second Primary (if necessary) is: Tuesday, October 7, 2025
2025 Municipal General Election is: Tuesday, November 4, 2025
After the election and when the canvas is complete, the newly elected officials will be sworn in and begin serving their terms at the Council meeting on December 4th.
