During 2009-2011 a 4-well plate was developed containing itraconazole (4 mg/L), voriconazole (1 mg/L), posaconazole (0.5 mg/L), and a growth control.

The medications that can cause these skin-related adverse events are methotrexate, voriconazole (Vfend), and BRAF inhibitors.

The molecular structures of several azole antifungals, the imidazoles clotrimazole, miconazole, and ketoconazole and the triazoles fluconazole, voriconazole, and itraconazole, are also shown in Figure 2.

This system also incorporates the AST- YS01 plate, which is used to test the yeast against the following antifungal drugs: Amphotericin B, Voriconazole, Fluconazole and Flucytosine.

These include the polyene group that encompasses amphotericin B deoxycholate and its lipid formulations (liposomal amphotericin B, amphotericin B lipid complex, and amphotericin B cholesteryl sulfate complex); the nucleoside analogue flucytosine; the triazoles which include fluconazole and voriconazole; and the most recently developed echinocandin class, which includes caspofungin, micafungin, and anidulafungin.

Certain antimicrobial agents such as voriconazole also may be accompanied with various degrees of ocular toxicity especially in whom without therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) [10-12].

The patient was immediately started on amphotericin B and voriconazole pending finalization of cultures and sensitivities.

The treatment was escalated to IV voriconazole 400 mg twice daily, which is a recommended treatment for patients who do not respond to the initial treatment of choice [12, 13].

This case report is the first to describe successful management of disseminated coccidioidomycosis in a dog with the novel triazole compound voriconazole.
