Stop-motion animation (or "
stop-frame," as Park calls it) creates the illusion of movement through a series of still images.
Whether working with ink, pencil, crayon, paint or print, digitally or in
stop-frame animation, the artists have been chosen for their skill, their innovation and inventiveness.
And the venue is also running Animation Summer Schools in August and September for children aged eight to 16, to devise and create a short
stop-frame animation.
Working with clay-- technically, Plasticine-- has since become Aardman's trademark, being the medium in which Morph [their earliest
stop-frame character] and later daffy inventor Wallace and his pet dog Gromit were sculpted.
He's also turning one of his poems, Scary Fairy and the Tales of the Dark Wood, into a 35-minute piece of
stop-frame animation.
They combine
stop-frame animation and live action sequences set in the real world.

Chloe, who made her first
stop-frame animated short film as a teenager while at Westfield School in Gosforth, said: "The Genero site is a brilliant platform which gives upcoming film-makers like me the chance to work with world-renowned musicians and artists on commercial projects.
They approached London-based production company Woodsfilm, which had never worked in
stop-frame animation but had experience in media promotional work and children's television; Vocality and Woodsfilm quickly realised the potential of exploring new production styles, and grew excited at the prospect of trying to do the opposite of fast-paced, live-action films.
"When I was watching
stop-frame animation shows as a kid, you knew they were made out of bits of felt and fur and things, but it was as if your own toys had been brought alive."
As an animator, you could specialise in an animation technique such as 2-D hand-drawn or traditional; 2-D computer-generated; 3-D computer-generated (CGI);
stop-frame, stop-motion or model animation.
