From a chemical perspective, penicillins have a [beta]-lactam ring attached to a thiazolidine ring with one
side chain. IgE-mediated penicillin allergy (type I allergic reaction) is likely to include all [beta]-lactam ring-containing antibiotics.
The drug is a modification of the saligenin albuterol, with a long nonpolar (i.e., lipophilic) N-substituted
side chain. Salmeterol thus consists of a polar, or hydrophilic, phenyl ethanolamine "head," with a large lipophilic "tail" or
side chain.
Our calculations demonstrate that the SWNT-PFO binding energy tends to increase as the length of the
side chain increases reaching the optimal value for octyl groups.
Flydrophobicity is one key advantage provided by the long aliphatic
side chain present in CNSL.
Abstracts An alicyclic epoxy resin was modified with a copolymer having both a perfluoroalkyl
side chain and a cyclohexenoxide-terminated
side chain.
Smith and McKague developed a stable radiation-emitting material based on a silicone with tritium and a wavelength-shifter
side chain (phosphor) bonded to the silicone.
The syntheses of A, B, and C are shown in Scheme 1(a), and their
side chain contents are shown in Table 1.
(8) The general synthetic routes to 1 provided the first chemical basis for systematically correlating its unusual
side chain structure with biological functions.
Vitamin K2 is a group of compounds collectively referred to as menaquinones, which are classified according to the number of isoprenyl units on the
side chain. Thus, vitamin K2 with 4 isoprenyl units is called menaquinone-4 (MK-4; also known as menatetrenone), and vitamin K2 with 7 units is called menaquinone-7 (MK-7).
It is comprised of a family of hydrocarbon compounds characterised by a chromanol ring with a phytol
side chain referred to as tocopherols and tocotrienols.
