Cougar-prey spatial association: Analyses of the associations between cougars and the 26 photographed species (potential prey and co-predators) determined that opossum (Didelphis sp.), armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus),
ocellated turkey (Meleagris ocellata), red brocket deer (Mazama temama), and collared peccary (Pecari tajacu) ([chi square] > 3.84, [alpha] < 0.05) had significant associations with the cougar.

I MENTIONED in a previous column that this past spring I was going to bite the broadhead and plunk down the money to go after
Ocellated turkeys in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Species found in the area include keelbilled motmots (a bird species found in Central America and Southern Mexico), kinkajous, jaguars, jaguarundis, king vultures, margays, ocelots,
ocellated turkeys, Yucatan spider monkeys, and Baird's tapirs.
The good news is there's a lot of other game in the Yucatan jungle: brocket deer and
ocellated turkey and odd animals like the coati mundi, agouti, and paca.
Now it was time for the grandest turkey of the World Slam, the
Ocellated. Arriving in Campeche on March 29, via Mexico City, I learned one of my bags didn't make it.
