Pope Francis on Wednesday appointed a Sri Lankan as the Secretary of the Vatican'sPontifical Council for
Interreligious Dialogue(PCID).
(KAICIID) 2 / 2 Faisal bin Muammar, secretary-general of the King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz International Center for
Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID), addressed the conference in Vienna.
The historic meeting is now a model for
interreligious, intercultural dialog.
The UN General Assembly adopted the resolution "Promotion of
interreligious and intercultural dialogue, understanding and cooperation for peace" without a vote, the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
The
interreligious movement in Nepal was born in 2004 out of the decade long Maoist conflict in an effort by the religious leaders in Nepal to transform the conflict into peace by mediating between the government, parliamentary political parties, the king and the Maoists.
