While true "hot towers" have not been observed, the existence of large ice crystals associated with slightly diluted overshooting convection (i.e., "hottish towers") may prove useful for tropical cyclone forecasting and provide additional insight into how the energy budget of the tropics is maintained.-- Christopher J.
