In a modernist vein, Mintz (1985) argues that elite practices of consumption may, under the right economic conditions, become broadly infused into everyday culture through processes of "
extensification" and "intensification."
Extensification, according to Mintz, occurs when once scarce and expensive commodities become cheap enough that they extend to regular usage by common people.
But to bring them home would have meant extra costs in transport and, very importantly, taken us over our
extensification stocking rate limit.
They include three cattle schemes payable by June 30: the Beef Special Premium Scheme, the Suckler Cow Premium Scheme and the
Extensification Premium Scheme.
Latest figures show that despite the passing of a June 30 deadline, 61pcof Beef Special Premium balance payments are still owed, while 52pcof Suckler Cow advance subsidies and beef national envelope are still outstanding.Also, 75pcof Suckler Cow balance payments are overdue while the Assembly will not start making
extensification payments until August.

extensification' of agriculture and the widespread use of 'environmentally-friendly' methods advocated by the Commissioner.Commissioner Fischler also spoke of "conflicting objectives" and "a lack of political will to accept short-term losses in order to achieve long-term gains" in the Common Fisheries Policy.

No
extensification payments had been made up to June 10.
The farm, which is all classified as less-favoured and in a severely disadvantaged area, has quota for 870 ewes and 81 suckler cows, but Mr Williams has reduced the ewes to 670 to qualify for new
extensification scheme payments.
