Precipitation showed an increasing trend for the whole Yunnan except for
ecoregion IV from 1982 to 2008, with a significant increase in precipitation in
ecoregions I (p < 0.005, [R.sup.2] = 0.25) and II (p < 0.005, [R.sup.2] = 0.16), a weak increase in
ecoregions III (p = 0.12, [R.sup.2] = 0.08) and V (p = 0.11, [R.sup.2] = 0.08), and a slight decrease in
ecoregion IV (p = 0.36, [R.sup.2] = 0.01) (Figure 4).
The major objective of this study, therefore, is to quantify the relationship between precipitation and burned area of individual fires, and how this relationship may vary by
ecoregion, based on historic fire data and observed precipitation data from local weather stations.

Ecoregion. INTRODUCTION
These studies were conducted within the Piney Woods
ecoregion along Bernaldo, Black Bayou, Jack, and Naconiche creeks (Nixon and Raines, 1976) and the Neches River (Nixon et al., 1977); in the Post Oak Savannah
ecoregion along the upper San Antonio River (Bush and Van Auken, 1984); in the Edwards Plateau
ecoregion along Leon Creek and other various tributaries of the San Antonio River (Van Auken et al., 1979), the Guadalupe River (Ford and Van Auken, 1982), the Frio River (Wood and Wood, 1988), and the Leona and Sabinal rivers (Wood and Wood, 1989); in the South Texas Plains along the Frio River (Wood and Wood, 1988) and the Leona and Sabinal rivers (Wood and Wood 1989); and, within the Gulf Prairies
ecoregion along the Aransas River (Longfield, 2001).
With the Pink Lake designation, representation in the Churchill River Upland
Ecoregion increases from 4.9 to 8.2 per cent of the total area.
His recent work includes a series about another
ecoregion in Ontario called The Land Between which aired on TVO at the beginning of April.
The RP comprises approximately 9.7 million ha in northwestern Texas and is an important
ecoregion for both bobwhites and bobwhite hunting (Jackson 1969).
The fundamental unit of classification (1:1 000 000 scale) was the ecoclimatic region (originally termed a land region, but revised to
ecoregion in the late 1970s) and was defined as an area "characterized by a distinctive regional climate as expressed by vegetation" (Lacate, 1969:4).

To better understand the dynamics of avian community composition in relation to environmental variables at different spatial scales, the work discussed herein focuses on the post oak savannah
ecoregion of Texas.
