The schemes were all mass-flux type schemes, but the updraft and downdraft entrainment and detrainment parameters, and precipitation efficiencies differed.

For the control experiment, the following parameterization schemes were selected: for microphysics, the Thompson scheme, the soil model is the so-called Unified Noah Land Surface Model [29]; for convection, the Grell-Freitas parameterization, it explicitly represents updraft and downdraft and includes the "detrainment" of cloud and ice.
