Truncus

Sharon's granddaughter Alicia Kerrie White was born in 2014 and was diagnosed with Truncus Arteriosus, a congenital heart defect.

He had truncus arteriosus - only one large blood vessel leading from his heart instead of two - and a hole in his heart, when he was born in December last year.

Her brother, Caleb, was born on December 17 last year with a heart condition called Truncus Arteriosus. He also had a very large hole in his heart which required immediate surgery.

The heart with bulbus cordis and truncus arteriosus was exposed by thoracotomy and a ligature was placed around the bulbus cordis.

In the cyanotic group, 4 cases (8%) were diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF), 4 cases (8%) with DORV, 2 cases (4%) with truncus arteriosus, 1 case (2%) with pulmonary atresia, 1 case (2%) with TA.

ARCAPA may be associated with other congenital and acquired heart diseases, including aortopulmonary window, truncus arteriosus, anomalous subclavian artery, tetralogy of Fallot, constrictive pericarditis, bicuspid aortic valve, and mitral regurgitation [7, 9-15].

Complex CHD may be present in up to 18% of patients which include mitral valve prolapse, hypoplastic left heart syndrome, endocardial cushion defect, coarctation of aorta, patent ductus arteriosus, pulmonary hypertension, Tetrology of Fallot, (5) double outlet right ventricle, (6) truncus arteriosus, and total anomalous pulmonary venous return.

Eiriana was diagnosed with truncus arteriosus while still in the womb - a rare type of heart disease in which a single blood vessel comes out of the right and left ventricles instead of the normal two vessels.
