Quitting will be verified through participants' registration with a local smoking cessation provider, or the Quitline, and by quit status using a "
smokerlyzer" machine.
They use a tool called the
Smokerlyzer to measure carbon monoxide in participants' breath.
Exhaled carbon monoxide levels were measured by Micro CO
Smokerlyzer (15).
Smoking status was assessed biochemically using a Bedfont
Smokerlyzer which measures exhaled CO.
Participants provided a breath CO using a Micro
Smokerlyzer (Bedfont Scientific Ltd., Rochester, UK).
Body mass index checks and
Smokerlyzer tests, which measure the amount of carbon monoxide in a person's lungs and bloodstream, will also be available.
