If one consults the two standard works on North American
isopods (Richardson 1905, Van Name 1936), one will find few if any references to
isopods in Louisiana.

Juvenile amphipods that remain and develop in close proximity to their mothers are known from several genera within the Ampithoidae (Conlan and Chess 1992, Poore and Lowry 1997) and similar lifestyles occur among other marine mesograzers (e.g., leaf mining

Thereafter, the juveniles begin emerging at night to forage for tiny sea creatures known as amphipods and

Up to date, the diversity of Costa Rican terrestrial
isopods is poorly known.
Isopods are widely distributed in all environments, especially in aquatic systems; their distribution includes oceans as well as estuarine environments (Blake & Scott, 1994).
The pill bug Armadillidium vulgare (Latreille 1804) is a species of
isopods (Crustacea: Isopoda), and can be commonly found at the reclaimed coast in eastern China.
