(ē′lə-rēn′, ĭ-lôr′ən)
A city of southwest Nigeria north-northeast of Lagos. Capital of a Yoruba kingdom c. 1800, it was taken by the Fulani in 1825 and came under British control in 1893. It is now an agricultural and commercial center.
