Gray Panthers

The "sweet era" of Gray Panther consumption is likely to be from now until 2010, because they represent the core of Japan's original postwar baby boom.

Besides Ralph Nader, these activists included the Consumers Union, minority groups, and the Gray Panthers, the network of firebrand elderly activists--"Old, Bold and Angry," one headline read--who pressed for fair treatment on issues from hearing aids to housing.

What was originally intended to be a four, month campaign to spearhead a national petition drive has turned into a coalition representing a wide spectrum of national activist groups which favor a single-payer reform bill--including, but not limited to, UHCAN, ACT UP, Public Citizen (Ralph Nader's group), the Gray Panthers (senior activists), and many unions.

Organizations such as the Gray Panthers provide services and programs targeted specifically at older inmates.

Many other NGOs represented the extremes of the disarmament, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, Marxist, feminist, and environmentalist movements: Planned Parenthood, the Alan Guttmacher Institute, the Margaret S anger Center, the Population Council, Global Education Associates, the Gray Panthers, Peace Action, Physicians for Social Responsibility, the Temple of Understanding, and Mikhail Gorbachev's State of the World Forum.

"Something is rotten at the FDA," charges Tim Fuller, executive director of the Gray Panthers. "Private meetings between drug company executives and FDA officials seem to be leading to sweetheart deals for drug manufacturers."
