DLitt for widening access work for universities in Scotland.
Kings University, which is accredited by the American Association of Adult and Continuing Education in the USA, conferred on him the title of Doctor of Letters (
DLitt) at a convocation held in the South Indian city of Chennai on Saturday.

On Wednesday they both received honorary degrees (Doctor of Letters -
DLitt) from the University of Warwick for their tireless voluntary work in the community helping fellow blind and partially sighted people.

Also receiving honorary degrees at the ceremony at Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, will be Sean Crowley, Wales' most prolific theatre designer, who will receive an honorary
DLitt (Doctor of Letters), and Professor D Roger Owen, research professor in civil engineering at Swansea University, who will be awarded an honorary EngD (Doctor of Engineering).
He was awarded a
DLitt by the University of Karachi in 2004.
