(bĕth′lĭ-hĕm′, -lē-əm)1. A town in the West Bank south of Jerusalem. It is the traditional birthplace of Jesus.
2. A city of eastern Pennsylvania on the Lehigh River north-northwest of Philadelphia. It is an important steel-producing center and the site of Moravian College (established 1742) and Lehigh University (1865).
