Tea production for the month of September stood at 42.51Million Kgs, which was more or less at par with the output for recorded during the same period of last year of 42.41 Million Kgs. However, this was a slight recovery from the declining production trend that was recorded during the months of June, July and August. The recovery follows increased precipitation received during the month of September especially in the highlands west of the Rift Valley. During the month, tea growing areas in some parts of the West of the Rift received moderate rainfall ranging from an average of 30.44 mm to 78.44 mm daily for Kericho and 19.2 mm to 44.2 mm in Nandi.

Currently, the TBK Directors are holding a consultative meeting with the East African Tea Traders Association (EATTA) Board, focusing on market efficiency, value addition, and sustainable industry growth.
Under the Tea Act 2020, the TBK Board comprises representatives from government ministries, small-scale and large-scale growers, traders, the Council of Governors, and the CEO. The Board is mandated to regulate, coordinate, promote, and develop Kenya’s tea industry ensuring standards, licensing, market development, and fair participation for all value-chain actors.
TBK remains committed to inclusive governance and a stronger, competitive tea sector.
