This document summarizes an experiment conducted to determine the ratio of convective heat and mass transfer coefficients during water evaporation. Students measured the cooling rates of water in cups with and without evaporation using temperature measurements over time. They applied the Reynolds analogy and energy conservation principles to calculate the ratio of the convective mass to heat transfer coefficients from the experimental data. The ratio determined experimentally was found to differ by 83% from the value predicted by Reynolds analogy. The objective was to compare values of the coefficient ratio determined from experiment and theory.
