The 2nd 1.8MHz Contest in 2017 saw 91 logs submitted as entries and 16 check-logs received. This is similar in overall numbers to 2016 and a step up from the 1st 1.8MHz contest earlier this year, however there was a 58% increase in UK Assisted entries and a 9.6% increase in UK Unassisted entries.
There was plenty of DX to be worked, even with relatively modest antennas. Participation from UK&CD stations was higher this time than in 2016 and also than in the 1st contest. The overlap with the REF and Austrian contests continue to add lots of QSOs to the pool and appear to interoperate well.
The Victor Desmond Trophy is awarded to the leading station in theUK (Unassisted or Assisted section). This year G4BWP is the recipient. In the UK Unassisted section G4FNL takes the lead. The Non-UK Assisted section winner is 8S0DX with EI5DI leading in the Non-UK Unassisted Section.

Soapbox Lets just call this one a lesson in checking the rules. These run 2100 - 0100 I said to myself. Spent early evening putting up K9AY (which was no help!) - walked into shack at 2010 and heard UK stations giving big numbers. Oops... \
Conditions to the East seemed very good. To work 7 x JA and 1 x HL on my dipole remarkable. Shame antenna didnt work so well on US sunset opening - just the one VO1 there ;-(. Grim clicks from a few (non UK) stations made copying some weak stuff \
