Netgear are currently advertising the DM111P in the UK with the functionality specified by TR-068 I-202 which is a small clause in

Useful if you want modem router to just act as a dumb modem to connect to another router (wireless or linux smoothwall etc). You can sort of do it with a router and modem/router in dmz, but this results in double NAT which breaks various games/vpn (and no doubt drops throughput).

Very useful if you have a cable/dsl router you are happy with and switch from cable to adsl, the ntl:telewest (virgin media!) cable modems act in this sort of way.

Seems fairly common to have a full-bridge mode for pppoe, but many ISPs in uk use only pppoa which cannot be full bridged, you have to let modem hold password/account details and half-bridge. (BT routed ISPs tend to unofficially support PPPOE but when they go unbundled...)...

There aren't many ADSL modems that support this properly, and various problems with ones that do, esp reconnecting after disconnect and still allowing access to modem diagnostics etc.

To have full control over half bridge, and maybe add some incoming firewall protection, snmp stats etc would be a valuable option, but it does turn off a lot of the functionality in RT2.1 firmware.

FC: no differences encountered

The above D-Link DSL320T firmware does run OK on an ADSL2MUE albeit with a flashing red light to indicate data transfer! From the console messages it seems to me that zipb mode must be an embedded function - always on, no user control. As far as I can see the udhcp "Altbound" function is also in the Acorp/Routertech version.

What I would really like is for the UI to support turning on half bridge mode as per these instructions for a netcomm AR7 modem, screen shot in linked pdf.

I have downloaded and installed a copy of a version of this modem firmware

1.C07NCT25.8267A_051123.firmware.upgrade.img

on my ADSL2MUE (now bricked as Ethernet doesn't work Except for pspboot ftp! - and I have a serial console and JTAG if necessary...) I'm sure there was an easier way to find out what that button does - but it seems to be...

Does that make any sense? Can I construct a command to poke at that value in RT 2.1?

PS I also like the way the serial console starts in the CLI> and you type shell to get to bash in this firmware.

I do not think that you can do this in RT firmware. You could try unchecking the "Default Gateway" box. In theory, that should do it. But it doesn't.
