1. Critical networks are contested, not cooperative.
The network critical communication actually crosses is not the ideal one. It is jammed, congested, and bandwidth-starved; packet loss runs high, latency swings, routing turns asymmetric. In a denied environment, infrastructure is blocked or taken offline outright.

2. They are surveilled — now, and retroactively.
Hostile networks are also watched. Content and metadata — who talks to whom, when, from where — get collected. And traffic captured today can be stored to be decrypted later, once a quantum computer makes it readable: harvest now, decrypt later.

3. Conventional systems were built for neither.
Most real-time communication assumes the ideal network. When conditions degrade it drops the call and the session does not recover; when the adversary is patient, today's encryption becomes tomorrow's plaintext. Roftcore engineers from the opposite assumption.

No operator can read content or reconstruct who talks to whom. Sessions are ephemeral by default and leave no durable record unless the user keeps one.

A layered cryptographic stack engineered for a clean migration to standardised post-quantum algorithms, against the harvest-now-decrypt-later threat.
