Conservation
Weaved into the fabric of our flourishing paradise, we are proud to preserve the natural heritage of our island and restore its native ecosystem by founding the ‘Noah’s Ark Programme’. Focusing on the essential reforestation of endemic plants and trees, the reintroduction of local endangered bird species and repopulation of resident sea turtle and tortoise families.
Forest Restoration
An ongoing mission for our dedicated conservation team, the North Island Forest Restoration Project aims to restore the forest cover and create an ecologically sustainable landscape. This is achieved by planting native trees and targeted species selected for their insular biodiversity.
Seychelles White-Eye
North Island has become a sanctuary for the critically endangered Seychelles White-Eye. As part of the island’s rehabilitation programme, 25 White-Eyes were successfully relocated in 2007, marking an important milestone in the preservation of this rare species. Today, North Island is home to over 100 Seychelles White-Eyes.
