Looking to continue an effort started in August, the Hudson County Board of Freeholders will vote on a resolution Thursday to acquire property to extend Central Avenue between Newark and Hoboken avenues.
If the resolution passes, it will allow the county to enter negations to buy the property located at 624 Newark Ave.
The resolution states that the cost of the lot could be in the area of 650,000ドル plus closing costs.
The freeholders voted 8-0 in August to allow the county to pursue and negotiate the purchase of properties needed to connect the non-contiguous portions of Central Avenue. Chairman Eliu Rivera was absent from that meeting.
According to County Administrator Abraham Antun, the county seeks to expand Central Avenue in order to eliminate traffic issues on Newark Avenue.
If the county acquires the Newark Avenue property, it would most likely be demolished and used for as parking for jurors until the other properties needed to extend Central Avenue are acquired, Antun said at the meeting.
