Catamount Arts, Burke Hotel Bring Cirque Us Evening to Northeast Kingdom
Date: Saturday, April 5, 2025
Time: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
Catamount Arts is partnering with Burke Mountain Hotel to present a spectacular evening of circus arts, Saturday, April 5th, at 7pm. For one night only, the mesmerizing artists of Cirque Us will perform a captivating extravaganza of bold, beautiful aerials and acrobatics for a truly magical evening at the Burke Mountain Hotel in East Burke.Featuring world class veteran performers from Circus Smirkus, Cirque Dreams, and additional troupes nationwide, Cirque Us features breathtaking aerialists, astonishing acrobats, brilliant jugglers, and jaw-dropping contortionists.
Founded in 2016 by Doug Stewart, the Cirque Us collective seeks to bring the most passionate, committed, and talented circus artists to the hearts of local communities. Unlike many circuses that focus quite a bit of each show to solo acts, Cirque Us defies genre expectations with a focus on ensemble work, leveraging each member’s technique toward the creation of truly awe-inspiring collaborations. Stewart observes that the rigorous training and discipline required of each member creates a strong collective, able to perform to the highest caliber.
“Through this unique medium,” he writes,” we are able to emphasize the necessity of human connections and relationships in order to uphold community. We demonstrate that through trust and communication, we can hold one another up literally and figuratively. With open minds and hearts, we can be the best versions of ourselves both on and off the stage.”
Adding a sophisticated, contemporary vibe to traditional circus arts, Cirque Us appeals to all ages, so the East Burke show is perfect for an exceptional date night or a fun family night out. A cash bar will be available during the performance, and patrons are encouraged to make a night or a full weekend of the event, perhaps with dinner before the show at The View Pub and an overnight stay at the Burke Mountain Hotel.
Cirque Us at Burke Mountain Hotel, on Saturday, April 5th, is part of a year-long performance and events series celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. Buy tickets and learn more at www.catamountarts.org.
