Operations of the former Ferrocarriles Nacionales de M騙ico were privatized to concessionaires in several steps between 1997 and 1999. The companies shown below currently operate freight railways in Mexico. Their names are linked to their web sites.
CPKC de M騙ico (Kansas City Southern de M騙ico, S.A. de C.V.) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Canadian Pacific Kansas City Limited.
Ferromex (Ferrocarril Mexicano, S.A. de C.V.) is owned 74 percent by GM騙ico Transportes, S.A.B. de C.V., which is controlled by Grupo M騙ico, S.A. de C.V., and 26 percent by Union Pacific Railroad.
Ferrosur, S.A. de C.V. is wholly owned by GM騙ico Transportes, S.A.B. de C.V., which is controlled by Grupo M騙ico, S.A. de C.V.
Ferrovalle (Ferrocarril y Terminal del Valle de M騙ico, S.A. de C.V.) is jointly owned by CPKC de M騙ico, Ferromex, Ferrosur, and the Mexican federal government.
Ferrocarril Coahuila Durango (Linea Coahuila Durango, S.A. de C.V.) is controlled by Industrias Pe?oles, S.A.B. de C.V., a part of Grupo BAL, S.A. de C.V.
FIT (Ferrocarril del Istmo de Tehuantepec, S.A. de C.V.) is a federal parastatal entity controlled by the Secretar?a de Marina (Secretariat of Navy).
Baja California Railroad, Inc. is the contract operator for ADMICARGA (Administradora de la V?a Corta Tijuana-Tecate), a decentralized entity of the Baja California state government.
CG Railway, LLC is owned 60 percent by GM騙ico Transportes, S.A.B. de C.V., which is controlled by Grupo M騙ico, S.A. de C.V., and 40 percent by Genesee & Wyoming, Inc.
