For the price of the workshop, we think it's worth it for the following reasons: - Workshop structure: We have 1 hour with the teacher to learn the basics of the marbling techniques. Then, we have 1 hour for an independent creation time. We really like this structure because it allows us to know the fundamentals and the same time, experiment on our own. - Within the duration of the workshop (2 hours), we have time to practice what we learn. My partner and I end up with approximately 10 marbling papers. It was fun! - The workshop is relaxing; the teacher provides us with tea. We play with the cat, Charlie (if Charlie likes you!). - The studio is located on a third floor and tucked away from the busy streets. And, at the end of the workshop, the teacher gives us bookmark and his original creation which we really admire. - We book the activity online via their website and in contact with the owner via WhatsApp. We receive helpful service and responses. I arrived in Türkiye a day ahead of a scheduled tour so I could take a couple of classes with Les Arts Turcs. I made a Sedef pendant with Mr. Ahmet and had a belly dance lesson with Saime. Mr. Alp (with the organization) was absolutely fantastic and helped me coordinate the two classes to accommodate my schedule. I wish I had more time to take a few more classes. Guess I’ll just have to make another trip to Istanbul! The space is stunning, a calm oasis of creativity set around a green lawn with roaming chickens and a relaxed cafe by the entrance to Little Hagia Sofia mosque. I came away with shared knowledge of (some of) the history & culture of textiles in, into & out of Turkey, & a printed piece that I created under the guidance of Master Tahsin. I love my keepsake scarf, and more so, I am so grateful of the time shared with me by Master Tahsin, and the organisation, patience, and translating skills of Mr Alp. There are other Master Craftspersons here, it’s a true creative community that I wished I could have been be a part of for longer!
