    Summary: Technological evolution and user service requirements in mobile telephony have motivated the mobile industry to resort to small base stations to complement existing infrastructure. Small base stations that emit at lower power levels are installed much closer to users than macro base stations. The proximity of small base stations reduces the radiated power to and from mobile terminals. 5G networks are characterized by the multiplicity of small base stations that complement macro base stations (large cells) to provide increased capacity in densely populated areas. Antennas of these small base stations are installed on structures like streetlights, utility poles, billboards, traffic lights, etc., to densify the network. Considering the above, particular attention to the impact of small base stations on the overall exposure level is necessary in the context of 5G cellular system deployment.
