On 30 July, we launched our latest policy paper; P On 30 July, we launched our latest policy paper; Policy Ideas No. 95–Youth Voices, Future Choices: Comparing Agriculture Aspirations, Perceptions, and Career Preferences Across Education Pathways in Malaysia.This paper was co-authored by Priya Kaur Sachdev, Prof Dr M. Niaz Asadullah, Dr Stewart Nixon and Naveen Mahasen Weerasinghe.Drawing on a nationally representative survey of more than 14,300 students from public secondary schools and vocational colleges, the report findings suggest that career aspirations are shaped well before youths enter the labour market, making education pathways an important opportunity to enhance interest in agriculture.Key findings from the report include: ➣ TVET increases interest in agriculture, but not agri-tech ➣ Early exposure to agriculture-related subjects shape career aspirations ➣ TVET students value training and skills development opportunities, not just higher salaries ➣ Young people are looking beyond traditional agricultureWe sincerely thank our esteemed speakers for the insightful panel session and all participants for making the event more meaningful.
