Overview

The Comprehensive HL7® FHIR® Foundational Implementer Exam Preparation Course is a five-week, self-paced asynchronous course that will prepare participants for taking the HL7 FHIR Foundational Implementer Exam . It covers complete content and all the aspects of the FHIR Foundational Implementer Exam. It teaches the FHIR standard in detail through pre-recorded lectures, reading material, assessments and live Q&A.

  • Obtain a solid knowledge of the concepts required to pass the HL7 FHIR Foundational Implementer Exam.
  • Understand the test format and types of questions found in the exam.
  • Apply appropriate test taking strategies to deduce the correct answers in the exam.
  • Have thorough knowledge of the FHIR standard including resource concepts, terminology, extensions, referencing.
  • Learn reading/writing (not programmatically) Resource structure in JSON and XML formats.
  • Understand Rest API, FHIR query practically using the Postman tool and publicly available FHIR test servers.
  • Understand FHIR profiles and constraints including StructureDefinition. Understand how to choose and apply the profiles for use cases.
  • Understand Implementation guides and how to use them.
  • Understand validation errors and troubleshooting them.

What to Expect

This is an asynchronous, tutor-assisted online course. Learning takes place by going through the pre-recorded lectures for each module followed by reading material and assessments. Students can ask their doubts through the course platform and through weekly live Q&A sessions.

You can expect:

  • Five (5) modules with each consisting of recorded lectures, reading material and assessments
  • Instructors who are HL7 FHIR experts and working professionals
  • Discussion forums and live question and answer sessions
  • Objective assessments per module to prepare for the HL7 FHIR Foundational Implementer Exam
  • Course completion certificate to the participants successfully completed the course
  • To spend eight (8) hours per week on an average to complete the course in five (5) weeks
  • To learn reading/writing (not programmatically) resource structure in JSON and XML formats
  • To learn the FHIR standard in detail including resource concepts, hands-on learning of REST API & FHIR query, bundle structure, profiling (StructureDefinition, extension definition, FHIR operations) and implementation guides

Prerequisites

  • Though not mandatory, it is good to have basic FHIR knowledge.
  • Good to have both JSON and XML knowledge as exam questions will test your understanding of JSON and XML formats of resource instances. At least reading of JSON and XML is expected in the exam.

**Students are required to submit proof of enrollment in an accredited university or college (in English). Either of the following documents is acceptable proof of enrollment:

  • A transcript showing the student is actively enrolled in the university or college as of the date of registration for the certification exam.
  • A letter from the Dean or Department chair stating that the student is enrolled for a time period that includes the date of registration for the certification exam. This letter must be on school letterhead, display a school seal or logo and contain a signature and phone number of the Dean or Department Chair.
