First run

Mac OS X Panther starts with one instance of new Finder and a set of applications in the Dock at the bottom (from left: Finder, Safari, Mail, iChat AV, Address Book, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iCal, QuickTime Player, System Preferences, shortcut to Apple’s site and Trash). The Send Registration link is present only on machines without the Internet connection. Note: The screenshot is taken on a machine without Quartz Extreme support.

The screenshots present: Dock in the default state , Dock with more applications running (the running applications are denoted with black arrow at the bottom, and some minimized windows can be seen on the right side), Dock with magnification enabled and Dock with Eject option instead of Trash (available when the user drags the removable medium).



File manager

Finder is adorned with new brushed metal look. Available are: icon view , list view , column view , and the “classic” view without sidebar and toolbar (available by pressing the button in the upper right corner of the window).
