In 2012 London based artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan had two solo shows featuring new commissioned work The Freedom Of Speech Itself at The Showroom, London and The Whole Truth at CASCO, Utrecht. His ongoing project Aural Contract has been recently exhibited at Arnolfini, Bristol (2013) and The Taipei Biennial (2012). Other works include Marches for Artangel London (2008) and his collaboration as part of the group Model Court presented at Gasworks, London (2013). Abu Hamdan is a part of the research team Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths College where he is also a Phd candidate and lecturer.
Charlotte Prodger is an artist based in Glasgow. Her installations and performances explore what happens to speech, and the self for which it is a conduit, as it transmutates via time, space and various technological systems. In her 'performances' she employs playback devices and her peers, as multiple ciphers for her writing. Recent solo exhibitions include Percussion Biface 1-13 at Studio Voltaire, London (2012) and :-*, Intermedia, Glasgow (2012) and group exhibitions and performances at Artist Space, New York, LUX/ICA Biennial of Moving Images and CCA, Glasgow. She is represented by Kendall Koppe, Glasgow.
The event, organised and chaired by Electra's Fatima Hellberg and Irene Revell coincides with Sonia Boyce's solo exhibition Scat: Sound and Collaboration (05 Jun - 27 Jul 2013), which includes two works realised with Ain Bailey and Mikhail Karikis respectively.
