This evening with minimalist/maximalist composer, video artist, performer and visual artist Charlemagne Palestine brings together a programme of video works
followed by a conversation. The screening includes a selection of Palestine's performance-driven, psychodramatic videos from the 1970s, alongside his more
recent
Ritual in the Emptiness, staged in an abandoned factory in France in 2001.
In his moving image work, Palestine activates an intensely personal use of physicality, motion and sound, and certain emblematic objects including teddy bears,
cognac and scarves - what he calls 'symbols of identification'. His symbolic registers and their status and manipulation in his work and life will be explored in
conversation with Electra's Fatima Hellberg.

the form of talks, discussions, screenings and workshops by artists and musicians performing at Cafe OTO. Previous events in the Electra & OTOProjects series have
included a listening event with Ghédalia Tazartès and an audio-visual performance by Ikue Mori.
