Hollyoaks: Tony Hirst is back as Mike Barnes
Mike Barnes is back from the cobbles.
It looks like Tony Hirst is returning to Hollyoaks to reprise his role as Mike Barnes.
Hirst's character left the show back in 2010, when his on-screen daughter Sarah was killed in a fatal parachuting accident, but he was pictured back on set in Chester this week, alongside daughter Amy (Ashley Slanina-Davies) and her new boyfriend Ryan Knight, who will be played by Blue's Duncan James.
We know. It's mad! But we're also very excited to see how this all pans out.
During his absence from the show, Tony has enjoyed success elsewhere in soapland. The actor played fireman Paul Kershaw on Coronation Street, who romanced Eileen Grimshaw when he arrived on the street back in 2010, but left the show in 2013 after bosses failed to renew his contract.
No word on the fate of Zoe Carpenter (Zoe Lister), the girlfriend Mike left the show with. But given her absence from the set, we're guessing things didn't work out too well for the pair after departing the village.
Hollyoaks in on Channel 4 on weekdays at 6.30pm.
