The George Green Medal has been established by the University of Mississippi and the Wessex Institute of Technology to honour the work carried out by eminent scientists in the field of boundary elements and other mesh reduction methods.

The 38th Boundary Elements and Meshless Reduction Methods took place in the New Forest, home of the Wessex Institute of Technology. The meeting was organised by the University of Mississippi, represented by Professor Alex H Cheng and the Wessex Institute represented by Professor Carlos A. Brebbia.
The first George Green Medal was awarded at the 37th International Conference on Boundary Elements and Other Mesh Reduction Methods in the New Forest.
