Artec ID introduces new 3D facial recognition technology

| T'ash Spenser

Artec ID, the 3D biometric division of Artec Group, Inc. introduced the third generation of Broadway 3D, its newest 3D facial recognition biometric system.

The system kit includes a 3D camera to capture still or video images and proprietary software pre-installed on a 3D computing unit. The technology can do accurate and real-time 3D scanning of objects with arbitrary topology that cannot be fooled by mere pictures.

Sergey Sukhovey, Chief Marketing Officer at Artec Group said, in an article that appeared in Ein News that: "Broadway 3D can recognize differences up to a fraction of a millimeter. It provides the highest level of security control even when subjects are passing quickly passing through checkpoints."

Broadway 3D is able to differentiate nuanced geometry with accuracy of up to fractions of a millimeter, enabling it to tell apart identical twins and making the Broadway 3D one of the most accurate biometric devices. This makes the system ideal in airports, transportation hubs, factories, and business centers.

Registration time only takes about two seconds with recognition time of less than one second, as illustrated in this video.

The system has a working distance range of 0.8 – 1.6 m, which can recognize up to 60 people per minute. It requires no direct physical contact or positioning and can recognize even those with hats and sunglasses.

Other benefits include the capability of storing large image in its database and integration with existing automated control systems used for security.

Can Broadway 3D’s fast facial recognition technology reduce long queues in airport terminal lines?
