JBは都会の喧騒からしばし離れて、山奥の渓流沿いで野営をしている。
街の人いきれに意識が惑わされ、不意に人生に迷うことがある。得体の知れない不安。何かに追い立てられて逸る気持ち。解決しようにもその糸口さえ見えない。そんなときJBは自然に身を置いて、夜、焚き火をおこす。焚き火の焔を社会の厳しさに見立て、マシュマロを炙る。甘く柔らかい自身と無常な世界との折り合いをつける。そんな儀式。芳しい匂いが、煙とともに冷え切った夜の空気中に漂う。軽く火傷した唇を舌で癒しながら、マシュマロの甘さに一人頷くJBであった。

JB is camping by the mountain, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. At times like these, JB retreats into nature and makes a marshmallow bonfire at night. The flames of the bonfire represent the harshness of society, and marshmallows are roasted. It’s a ritual of coming to terms with one’s sweet and tender self and the impermanence of the world. A fragrant smell drifts in the cold night air along with the smoke. As JB uses his tongue to soothe his slightly burned lips, he nods to the sweetness of the marshmallows.

FLAGは、マニラでジープニーの運転手をしている。彼の自慢のジープニーは、ゴリゴリにデコられている。フィリピンのポピュラーな移動手段である乗り合いタクシー「ジープニー」は、基本的に派手な装飾が施された車体ばかりなのだがFLAGの車は一味違う。まず、ボンネットの上に巨大なオブジェが溶接されており、前が見えない。そのオブジェの重みで、フロントサスペンションは沈んだまま機能していない。また、全部の窓にガッツリ塗装しているので、オブジェとか関係なく全方位が見えない。あと、タイヤが四角い。要するに走れない。最初に「運転手」とか言って、すみませんでした。
