"Women's Autonomous Cultural Scenes: Media, Space, and Activism": The 9th lecture
memorandum (some part of lecture contents)

The main theme of this lecture was "Gentrification and Local Feminist Collectives: Resistance and Organizing Autonomous Spaces".

To come right to the point, I emphasized that the roles, properties, and strategies (on cultural activities) of feminist collectives in countermovements against gentrification have much in common with those of women/queer forward collectives looking for a means to organize autonomous spaces in independent music scenes.

What women/queers needs to develop autonomously their cultural activities in some movements are the following things.
・Safe(r) space
・A rent-free building
・A circumstance of mutual assistance
・Cooperative care and childcare system
・The honor system

Accordingly, they find it necessary to 'save' or 'reclaim' their spaces on various fronts and in some cases they are to 'occupy' there.
On that occasion, they utilize workshops (DIY, yoga, craft, and more) to empower (vulnerable) associates each other, extend the community and increase their own influence.

It can be said that their practices strike a balance between sociality and thoughtful intimacy. I think directly because those movements/communities are not male-dominated.
