SYNOPSIS

Grouchy old millionaire Joseph Snow, who suspects his relatives of coveting his money, decides to frustrate them by faking his death and leaving his estate to Abby Lou Maynard, a poor young woman who works in an antique shop. Sequestered in a secret room inside the mansion, Joseph watches as Abby uses her sudden wealth for the benefit of others. Among the recipients is a member of the Snow family for whom she finances a haberdashery. Another is her sweetheart, Tom Cobb, who is developing a tea kettle that cannot boil over. Abby's generosity imbues the old man with the spirit of romance, and after unmasking himself at a costume ball, Joseph adopts her as his daughter. ...
