3. Soundplotter
Soundplotter is 3D printed vase and its shape is generated by sound input.
The virtual model can react to sound and thus change, for example louder sound input could make a object bigger.
The vase consists of rows of cubes layered one on top of each other. The top layer is active and modifies itself according to the input received. The change is saved, moves down one step and so makes way for the next top layer where the process repeats. So with time the vase contains a message or captures a moment.
4. Lettercup
The 3D printed Lettercup is based on the idea of transmitting messages into an 3D object. A user types the message and depending on the letters used, the shape of the virtual model changes accordingly.
5. Exorbit
You won't expect, Exorbit is a ventilator! Instead of conventional net Exorbit has structures of a butterfly-wing.
The Exorbit follows an elliptic orbit instead of moving around it ́s centre. The context of form and function has been radically reinterpreted. Can such a net make wind?
Digital fabrication allows designers to merge natural structures, sounds, ingredients of foods into products design. It builds up an individual, emotional and sustainable connection between human and product. Features that were totally impossible with conventional machining, are now possible to be added in all products.
