Jayalalithaa to open flyover at Mint junction, subway near Stanley Medical College

The 23-crore flyover at Mint junction is expected to benefit motorists travelling between Basin Bridge Road and Old Jail Road. The Rs 15.76-crore subway that links Monegar Choultry Road and Cemetery Road will reduce the vital time lost while rushing patients to the Stanley Hospital.

CHENNAI: Chief minister J Jayalalithaa will inaugurate a much-delayed flyover at Mint junction and a subway near Stanley Medical College and Hospital in Chennai through video conferencing at 2pm on Wednesday.
TOI recently reported that these facilities were yet to be opened to the public even after the completion of the work.
The 23-crore flyover at Mint junction is expected to benefit motorists travelling between Basin Bridge Road and Old Jail Road.

The Rs 15.76-crore subway that links Monegar Choultry Road and Cemetery Road will reduce the vital time lost while rushing patients to the Stanley Hospital.
Commuters said that the flyover and the subway would ease traffic problems in North Chennai, especially during peak hours.
"It is a dream cum true for us. We have been neglected by officials for several decades. The opening of subway will also help thousands of patients coming to the hospital" said M Chandran, a commuter on Old Jail Road.
Corporation officials said that the chief minister would also open a Rs 17.28-crore auditorium at Shenoy Nagar through video conferencing.
