Over the years, I’ve worked on dozens of sites and systems, from internal applications to high-traffic public platforms. The examples below aren’t necessarily the biggest names, but they each presented a unique challenge—technical, architectural, or conceptual—that made the work especially rewarding. These are the kinds of puzzles I enjoy solving.
I built the site in Drupal. Because of the numerous permutations of data requests I deposited the data into MongoDB via a queued batch process that first converted it to JSON. Making this voluminous information available to fans was almost as satisfying as winning a medal!
The challenges were corralling the myriad business rules—I’ve always enjoyed translating client business requirements into clear specifications—and writing the process controller code that consumes and acts upon those specifications.
