Description:
Alternative splicing removes the prenylation motif of Cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42), abrogating binding to Protein farnesyltransferase/geranylgeranyltransferase type-1 subunit alpha (FNTA). The canonical, prenylated Cdc42 isoform (Cdc42-pren or Isoform Placental of Cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42)) is expressed in all tissues, the variant, palmitoylated form (Cdc42-palm or Isoform Brain of Cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42)) is expressed only in brain.
