Welcome to HPC Asia 2022
High performance computing (HPC) is a key technology to solve large problems in science, engineering, and business by utilizing computing power that has been continuously evolving. The International Conference on High Performance Computing in Asia-Pacific Region (HPC Asia) is an international conference series in the Asia Pacific region on HPC technologies, fostering exchange of ideas, research results and case studies related to all issues of high performance computing.
The 5th edition, HPC Asia 2022 will be held with the motto "Stepping forward to the Post Moore Era together." Although we are now entering the Exascale era, the Post Moore era will soon follow, and HPC Asia 2022 will provide a unique opportunity to discuss the challenges towards the Post Moore era. In addition, we need to pay close attention to the integration of HPC and AI: while the "convergence" of HPC and AI has been broadly discussed, the intensive "integration" of those will be essential towards computing in the Post Moore era.

Poster Presentation Format (Tentative)
- The PDF file of 1-page extended abstract of each accepted submission will be uploaded to the conference website but NOT included in the conference proceedings that will be published by ACM.
- The PDF file of each poster will be also uploaded to the conference website.
- Poster blitz session is planned, in which each poster presenter will be given an opportunity to make a brief oral presentation for introducing their poster.
- Poster session core time using online meeting system is planned, in which each poster presenter and participates can interactively discuss their poster.
- Offline discussion space on Slack will be provided.
- Student poster presentation award is planned:
- Eligibility: a poster presenter who is the first author of the poster and a student in BS, MS, and Ph. D courses.
- Evaluation: member of the award committee will comprehensively evaluate the 1-page extended abstract, the poster draft, the oral presentation in Poster blitz, and the discussion through Poster session core time.
Poster Submission
Authors are invited to submit 1-page extended abstract (including references) of their posters. We welcome any posters that contain interesting themes you want to discuss in HPC Asia 2022. (A poster on research that was already reported in other journals and/or conferences is also acceptable, but authors must solve copyright issues by themselves.) Each abstract has to be formatted in the double-column style as in the following sample and submitted through Linklings (https://ssl.linklings.net/conferences/HPCAsia/). The review process is single-blind.

Paper Submission
New ACM Templates (August 6, 2021):
ACM is changing the archive format of its publications to separate content from presentation in the new Digital Library, enhance accessibility, and improve the flexibility and resiliency of our publications. This approach requires a new workflow that utilizes a simplified "review" format and a "final submission" format. The "final submission" is submitted to ACM's new production platform where authors will be able review PDF and HTML output formats before publication. More information about the motivation behind this change and how we prepare publications can be found at https://www.acm.org/articles/pubs-newsletter/2019/blue-diamond-mar-2019#3.
HPC Asia 2022 publishes papers in ACM proceedings and follows this new ACM format. All authors should submit manuscripts for review in the new single column format. We increased the page limit accordingly.
Authors are invited to submit technical papers of at most 10 pages at most 18 pages in PDF format including figures and references, formatted according to the ACM Proceedings Style (http://www.acm.org/publications/proceedings-template) and submitted through Linklings (https://ssl.linklings.net/conferences/HPCAsia/). Submitted papers must contain original work that has not appeared in and is not under consideration for another conference or journal. The review process is single-blind. There will be no revision/rebuttal stage.
All authors should submit manuscripts for review in a single column format. Please follow STEP 1 (Microsoft Word/LaTeX) at "2. The Workflow and Templates" in https://www.acm.org/publications/taps/word-template-workflow.

Call for Workshops (closed)

HPC Asia 2022 welcomes the submission of workshop proposals. Workshops will be held at the same venue of the conference, in the afternoon of January 14, 2022. Through technical presentations, invited talks and/or panels, we expect that workshops will provide a great opportunity to establish wide and deep discussions among attendees.
Proposal Format
Each proposal must include the following information:
- Title of the workshop (Full name and Abbreviation)
- Objectives, scope, and contribution to the main conference (up to 1 page)
- Short bio of the key organizer
- Procedure for selecting papers
- Expected number of participants
- A tentative list of program committee members
- The workshop website URL address

Workshop Facility and Logistics
The workshop will be held either fully online or hybrid (online + onsite in Kobe) depending on the COVID-19 pandemic situation. HPC Asia 2022 will prepare one physical room for each accepted workshop, and the capacity of each room is approximately 100 seats. The time slot for each workshop is 210 min. A projector and screen will be available in each workshop room. The final decision about the facility and logistics will be announced in the beginning of September 2021.
Organizer's Tasks
Each accepted organizer is responsible on the successful workshop management including the following tasks:
- Send call for papers to appropriate mailing lists.
- Create a web-site of the workshop to show the place, the time and the program of the workshop.
- Manage full reviewing process of submitted papers.
- Attend the workshop in person and manage the workshop.
Conference proceedings will not include workshop papers. Therefore, the publication of the papers and/or the presentation materials of the workshop should be arranged by the organizer.
Information About Fees
All HPC Asia 2022 attendees will be able to attend workshops without any additional fee. Therefore, there is no option of "Workshop Only" registration in HPC Asia 2022. Also, there will be no financial support such as registration fee for the conference or travel for the workshop organizers.

In recognition of the outstanding contributions to HPCAsia 2022, we have selected the three best papers based on their reviews scores and also a discussion among members of the PC committee. During the conference, the best paper committee will select the best paper overall, taking into account the quality of the oral presentation, presentation materials, as well as technical impact.

HPC Asia 2022 Best Student Poster Award in Memory of Hiroshi Nakashima
Professor Hiroshi Nakashima (Kyoto University, Japan) suddenly passed away on October 6, 2021 by a terrible traffic accident. He was a member of the HPC Asia Steering Committee, and his death is a great loss to the HPC community in Japan, Asia and the world. According to his valuable support to the HPC Asia 2022, the organizing committee has decided to bear his name in the Best Student Poster Award of HPC Asia 2022 in recognition of his excellent achievements in research and education in the HPC Community. We would like everybody to respect his achievements and to share loving memories of him.
- Eligibility: a poster presenter who is the first author of the poster and a student in BS, MS, and Ph. D courses.
