NICO Semi-Confirmed

An SCEE spokesperson drops hints.

A few months ago we found that Amazon's UK site had a listing for NICO , the sequel to ICO. Just a week later we found that the name had been trademarked in both the Roman and Japanese characters. Sure, nothing was official, but that November release date sure looked tempting. Now, three months later, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has responded to those pesky rumors and provides a wink, wink, nudge nudge confirmation for us.
According to gamesindustry.biz, an SCEE spokesperson has said, "SCEE has yet to announce any official information related to the sequel of ICO, but we can confirm that such game will not be launching in 2004 for Europe." As if that wasn't enough of a hint, there's more. "ICO has been a cherished favorite amongst PS2 gamers and we realize that a second installment is eagerly anticipated worldwide," the spokesperson continued. "Please watch this space..."

And there you have it, a semi-official confirmation for the game pointing to a likely 2005 release. Will there be more hazy announcements for this title? Probably, so be sure to keep checking back here because we love providing all the hints of NICO that we can find.
