Welcome to the historic Pictou Academy and another school year. This year marks our 208th year as an educational institution in the province of Nova Scotia. Pictou Academy, founded in 1816 by Dr. Thomas McCulloch, is one of the oldest institutions for secondary education in Canada. Beginning as a Private Sectarian Institution, it has since become a public school within the Nova Scotia school system. The Academy has a long and illustrious history and many notable graduates.
