Plopped down in the Chelsea Waterside Park on 22nd Street, off the West Side Highway, is the city’s most modern—and stylish (it is West Chelsea, after all)—dog run. While other runs are lined with stinky woodchips, this one’s made of special asphalt that stays cool and is cleaned a staggering four times a day. Owners relax on benches while dogs scamper around the four hills. There’s a 24-foot-long faux tree trunk that looks like a piece of sculpture plucked from a nearby gallery, and even a stream to lap from. Best of all: The sidewalk café at the Empire Diner is just a block away. You’ll have to pay for your lunch, but dog treats are always on the house.
