Atkins recently released 11 players but retained the 19-year-old, who scored six goals and featured in 29 first team games this season.
Haldane told Rovers website: "My target is to stay in the side, not to just be a member of the squad.
"I've still got a lot to learn so I need to just keep listening to the manager and take my chance."
