Description

GUI Editing of a simple string gives Internal Server Error and the log reports

ConvertError: ExpatError: not well-formed (invalid token)

The modified page cannot be saved.

Steps to reproduce

  1. with Text Editing, append the magic string "Trend Micro Control Manager (TMCM) 5.0 patch 5." into a page. Save it.

  2. open the page with the GUI editor. Simply add a space inside the string just added and try to save the modification.

In fact, I cannot even change this page with the GUI editor!

Component selection

  • it happens also on the sandbox on current moinmo.in
  • I'm using Firefox on Windows

My logfile are in http://paste.pocoo.org/show/280976/ and http://paste.pocoo.org/show/280978/ (note that there is just that simple one-line-text in the page!).

Workaround

Find the string causing the problem and delete it... It contains strange characters if pasted in OpenOffice Writer.

Discussion

  • the magic string comes from a Power Point presentation

  • the problem is a single character between the Manager and the (TMCM) words. It's normally invisible - and clearly from an unusual character set.
